Annual Review 2018-19
The theme of UWS’s 2018-19 Annual Review was “success through learning”.
The stories in the report needed to reflect this theme and highlight the year’s big wins with a focus on demonstrating the University’s impact locally, nationally and across the world.
The report is aimed at a broad audience so the copy needed to be fresh, friendly and not overly academic. Complex research projects had to be explained using simple, accessible language without “dumbing down” the subject matter.
Lanarkshire Campus official opening programme
The opening of UWS’s ground-breaking new Lanarkshire Campus was an important event for the University with Scotland’s First Minister and key stakeholders in attendance.
The official opening programme needed to explain the design rationale of UWS’s revolutionary new campus as well as communicating the University’s core values and showcasing the contributions it makes to the world—a tall order for a small word count.
When UWS decided to overhaul their online presence I worked with them to develop copy for their new website. I researched the University’s activities, vision and community to tell inspiring stories, showcase achievements and attract prospective students.
The biggest challenge was ensuring consistency and quality of copy throughout UWS’s extensive (1000+ page) website.
